Maybe this is a sad book — and people, particularly when thinking about books for children, almost always prefer happy books, hopeful books. We agree. Hope is the most important thing in the world. But in order not to lose it for once and for all, we must see the world as it is right now. So as to change it, to fi x it, to make a plan! Conclusion: this is only a sad book if everything remains the same. If no one bats an eyelid, if no one takes a stand, if no one decides to change.
