Jussi is a young boy with many emotions, most of which he prefers to keep to himself. He lives in a suburb in an apartment that is always messy, and he is named after the opera singer Jussi Björling, his mother’s great idol. On the same floor as Jussi lives Betty, Jussi’s big crush, who has sun in her hair and freckles everywhere.

In The Golden God, Jussi finds a golden beetle that his classmate Adde says is a god who has fallen from heaven, a god who begins to whisper missions in Adde’s ear. At first, the missions are fun and harmless, but eventually Jussi is forced to do things he really doesn’t want to do, like steal from his older brother Lazze’s collections.

Jussi’s world contains warm and exciting stories, that are just as suitable for reading aloud as for reading on your own.

Kristina Sigunsdotter is a journalist and a writer, who was awarded the August Prize in 2020 for The Secrets of Cricket Karlsson.
