Ray Remembers Red

Ray is a boy born in South Carolina, who grows up in Greenville, Florida. He becomes blind at the age of seven, but he remembers all the colors of his homeland and his childhood. The red of the sun, hot and bright, the green of the trees and bushes, pleasant and fresh,
the brown and blue of Mr. Pith’s Plymouth, who let him sit in the front seat, and also plays the piano for him. Ray remembers the sounds and those black and white keys. Black and white, colors so united in music and yet so separate in the United States of those years. With his music, however, Ray will make both blacks and whites smile.

The story of the childhood of Ray Charles Robinson, known to the world as Ray Charles, pianist, jazz, blues, and country singer, among the fathers of soul music. He was one of the most significant figures in black music, a genius, a legend.
