Maja Hi

In Maja Hi, Maja greets her friend with a stick and Maja’s mom gently takes the stick from her. Maja pours sand over her head and mom gently takes the bucket from her. But when Maja splashes in the puddle, both her friend and mom splash with her. When Maja has tasted a worm and gotten wet, the book ends with a warm embrace in mom’s arms. A board book for the youngest that reflects the small child’s meeting with the big world outside the home.

Maja Oops

In Maja Oops, Maja is eating, she throws her food around. Mom brings out blocks. Maja builds and climbs up, up … and falls. After ouch they hug, then play peek-a-boo and climb up again. A sparse but no less dramatic text for the youngest.

Matilda Ruta is a writer, illustrator and cartoonist. Among others, she has created the series about Ninna, and the August Prize nominated book Åka buss.
