Fox Tale

Malte Persson & Kristin Lidström

When dusk falls over the forest, the fox wakes up and goes out in the night. A tickling journey begins.

The tale of a fox, a fox tale,
really dangerous fox travails
under hot sun and through a gale
and over stones and brooks and dales,
as foxes have some thrilling tales!

Join this picture book adventure, filled with sharp-witted fox rhymes and dreamlike landscapes!

Malte Persson is an author, critic, and translator. For his first children’s book, Resan till världens farligaste land (2012), he was awarded the Lennart Hellsing Prize. Nalle Havsöga (2021) and Räventyr are as ingenious and masterfully written in rhyme.

Kristin Lidström is the recipient of the Ottila Aldelborg Prize 2022. The jury praised, among other things, the “wonderfully luminous light” that characterizes Kristin’s imagery, the extraordinary color saturation and her fine sense for patterns and details.

Press voices

“Proud and headstrongly savage […] a dazzlingly beautiful picture book” Lotta Olsson, DN

“In Fox Tale there is no anxious tuning to some implied level of knowledge, just a great love for the words’ inherent power and musicality. It is infinitely liberating […] Kristin Lidström’s refined, dynamic illustrations add dimensions to the text. She lets a beautiful twilight descend over the forest, a detailed forest that vibrates with life and movement. […] An extremely fine picture book, where text and image are equally innovative.” Yukiko Duke, Expressen

“And play it does, with rhythm and with rhyme, with meaning and subtext, with a language that takes the reader out into a wild and magnificent world. […] Kristin Lidström has painted this same world in suggestive images that unfold over the pages, with roots in the Nordic fairy tale tradition. […] A book to fall in love with.” Jenny Aschenbrenner, Dagens ETC
