What Do You See?

Simona Badiali & Alice Beniero

There are no wrong answers…

Half artist’s notebook, half visual magic trick, this extraordinary book challenges us to do one of the hardest things in the world: truly look.

Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Bruno Munari, Simona Badiali reminds us that there are no such things as “empty pages”, only spaces waiting for an idea. With a recurring question, “what do you see?”, the book invites readers to question first impressions. Is it a roof? A floor? Or perhaps the hidden home of an invisible creature?

Through a playful journey of subtraction and discovery, readers learn that a wall can become the beginning of a horizon and that navigating the world does not require a compass, but the ability to imagine something more. That “something” is the reader’s own creative gaze, completing the book through imagination and participation.

An endless game for readers of all ages: younger children will delight in spotting hidden shapes, while older readers will rediscover the beauty of simplicity, observation, and lateral thinking.

A joyful celebration of imagination in its purest form.
