The Houses of the Other Kids

Luca Tortolini & Claudia Palmarucci

There are many children in the world, and many of them live in houses. Just as the children are diverse, so are the houses: there are old and new houses, small and large, some by the sea and some in places where it is much too hot in summer, houses made of wood and houses made of stone. Some houses are hotels, some have a cinema in the basement. Some are full of things, some are full of people.

In The Houses of the Other Kids you visit 10 different children and discover where and how they live. At the end there is an 11th house, one where the illustrator herself would live one day and create this fondly illustrated book.

Luca Tortolini’s books have been translated into various languages, and he is the winner of the Andersen Prize and the Bologna Ragazzi Award.

Claudia Palmarucci studied at the Arts Academy of Macerata where she now teaches. She was selected for the Illustr’arte 2011 and for the prestigious CJ Picture Book 2011. In 2020, her book about Marie Curie (text by Irène Cohen-Janca) won the Bologna Ragazzi Award in the category non-fiction.
