Noel and the Magical Wish List

Janina Kastevik

Noel is 11 years old. He is the guy who doesn’t fit in, standing by himself in the schoolyard at recess checking out the others playing. He likes to collect special words like “emerald green” and “serpentine”, not even his teacher understands him. Most of everything he is longing for a friend. One day, when Noel is on the bus, an old man, out of breath and with long, grey, dirty hair, squeezes next to him. At the following stop the man is all in a hurry to get off and forgets a little piece of paper on the seat. Noel is astonished when he sees what is written on it: Noel’s wish list. He starts wishing that things were better; he wishes to meet a friend, have a new teacher, that mum would come home and that dad would stop pretending everything’s just fine between them. The wish of a new friend comes true when Silke moves in in the same building. But with every wish that comes true an unforeseen consequence follows…

A new well written children’s novel with a fine undertone – by the author of Slottet av is (The Castle of Ice)

Cover by ALMA-nominee Joanna Hellgren.
