Anders Holmer

Anders Holmer’s Caravan bustles with life and the book’s leporello format makes the dreamlike journey an adventure without beginning or end. It is a poetic picture story that flows with colors and imaginative details, changing weather and winds. Where is everyone going? Sometimes they climb high cliffs, sometimes they float on clouds. In the short, moving texts, there are more life-defining questions than answers.

The story unfolds into a tickling journey, a multilayered work of picture book art to experience again and again.

Anders Holmer is an architect and a picture book artist, who made his debut in 2017 with It Happens. With a unique and low-key humor and a precision beyond the ordinary, he has been established as an artist with his own, but internationally viable, style.

Press voices

“It is a thought-provoking book in a festive format. Big and small, similarities and differences, are blended seamlessly in a thrilling flow.” – Oskarshamns Tidningen

“When a book surprises already in its physical form, it evokes a positive feeling. This rarely happens with novels, but occasionally, with picture books. It’s at it’s very best when you don’t suspect it from looking at the cover alone, but when you open the first page which makes something fall out. Such is the case with Anders Holmer’s new picture book Caravan. Who should one identify with and who is saying what is being said? In that way, Anders Holmer’s new book is as challenging as his previous poetic picture books. Add to this the format, accordion-like, which together with the easily accessible but clever language makes Caravan one of Anders Holmer’s best books and one of the highlights of this springs’ picture books.” – Dagens Nyheter
