Azadah is an inventive little girl who creates all sorts of things with found materials. However, in a country like Afghanistan, where Azadah lives, creativity is not always considered a meaningful quality. One morning, she learns that her friend, the reporter Anja Niedringhaus, is leaving Afghanistan to go back to Germany. Azadah wants to leave the war-torn country too, and she begs her friend to take her along. But it is impossible, and Azadah will have to find another way to escape.
