The Witching Hour
Madeleine Bäck & Moa Schulman
The Witching Hour is a collection of horror short stories illustrated in black and white. There are stories about breakfast cereal that turns out to be fingernails, about mysterious things scratching under the stairs and about eyeballs that have been saved on the windowsill. They are all scary and tantalizing, perfect for kids 9–12 to read together or under a blanket.
Madeleine Bäck is a writer of scary and mysterious stories. She writes fiction for all ages, books as well as radio drama. Madeleine works as a sustainability consultant at Stockholm agency. Before that she has had a long career in medical and science journalism, as a reporter as well as an editor. She has been the CEO of several content marketing companies in Sweden and the Swedish member organisation Swedish Content Agencies. Her horror trilogy for young adults, the Pactum Series, was loved by readers and critics alike.
Moa Schulman is one of the best-known illustrators and graphic designers in Sweden. Her black and
white illustrations heighten the sense of horror and give the readers the creeps.
- Press voices
- “The short stories are written in a simple and captivating way and the black and white, murky and sometimes blurry illustrations by Moa Schulman give the reader the creeps. (…) The Witching Hour is a really good book - accessible and evocative at the same time.” BTJ
