Alex is twelve years old and has lost his older sister Dolly. Everyone seems to have accepted Dolly’s death and moved on with their lives, but when Alex sees footprints in the flowerbed below Dolly’s window, he understands that everything is not as it should be. At the same time, a mysterious lady appears and asks questions about Dolly. She is after Dolly’s diary. Mom and dad wave Alex’s stories away, but Ester, Dolly’s best friend who works in the ice cream shop, helps Alex further into the forest, to find out what really happened to Dolly.
