The Dream Cabinet

Klara Bartilsson

Every evening, Slumber fills his big blue cabinet with all the nice things he has collected during the day – things that sparkle, can be petted, or taste yummy. When each thing has its place on the shelves, he closes the glass doors and cranks the machinery. The dreams are then sent out to the sleeping city through the dream chute. It is hard work, but Slumber has been creating dreams for as long as he can remember.

But then one day he finds nothing nice at all. Could it be the thieving magpies that have been on the move? Without something to fill the cabinet with, it won’t work – nightmares and troubled dreams swirl into the night. This can’t happen! What will happen to all the people in the city now?
