Life of Steve
Felicita Sala
Finally, through
a friend of a friend,
Steve found the Apple.
This is by far his favourite home.
It is cozy and perfect and Steve hopes
it will last forever.
But of course, it will not.
A humorous, tender, epic tale about a very ordinary worm on an extraordinary journey.
Steve is a little worm searching for a place to call home, but his quest turns into a lifetime adventure. His greatest challenge comes when he meets Bruce, a gruff old hedgehog whom Steve fears, but who ultimately becomes his unexpected friend and mentor, teaching him that a home can be anywhere, if one appreciates the beauty of existence.
Warm, funny, and deeply moving, Life of Steve is a richly illustrated tale about the life cycle, death and rebirth, protecting the living things that are entrusted us, but also about being able to let go when the time comes.
Felicita Sala was born in Rome but grew up in Perth. She graduated with Honours in Philosophy from the University of Western Australia. She moved back to Italy in 2007 where she taught herself illustration and very slowly started making picture books.
Her books were selected among the 10 best picture books of the year by the New York Times: She Made a Monster in 2018 and As Night Falls in 2023. Her first self-authored book, Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street, has been translated into 18 languages. In 2020, Felicita won the Premio Andersen as best illustrator in Italy.
