Here Are All the Others

Mimi Åkesson & Linda Bondestam

Here Are All the Others is a book for everyone who belongs to a group – and those who are standing next to them. Because they also belong to a group! Luckily there are so many that you don’t have to choose. And maybe you can switch, maybe make up your own clique? Who doesn’t want to belong somewhere in some way?

A humoristic book about the collective by debut author Mimi Åkesson and award-winning illustrator Linda Bondestam. Discover recurring faces in the crowds on the spreads, trace your own stories, reflect on the groups you belong to, would like to belong to, or don’t want to belong to at all! A colorful, large-format picture book for the whole family to gather around, talk about, and return to.

Mimi Åkesson has studied Creative Writing in Stockholm and worked as an editor. She has participated in a number of magazines and anthologies. Here Are All the Others is Mimi’s picture book debut.

Linda Bondestam is a Finland Swedish children’s book artist, who has studied illustration in London and is inspired by big city crowds. She has illustrated over 30 picture books and has been awarded the Nordic Council Prize for best children’s book in 2017 for Djur som ingen sett utom vi tillsammans written by Ulf Stark.

Press voices

“A playful peek at how we’re all different yet united in our striving to belong.” Smålandsposten

“At the hands of Bondestam and Åkesson, the ’community picture book’ becomes an act of resistance, arguing for diversity. Forcefully, but also invitingly, they tell it like it is: This is the world. Step into it, discover it.” Hufvudstadsbladet

”…gives pause for thought and makes a case for playfulness and inclusion.” Hufvudstadsbladet

“Children and adults both will recognize themselves and spend time with each spread.” Gunnar Åberg, BTJ
