On Neo Andersson’s street there’s an abandoned house that looks like no other. A remarkable old mansion, that Neo has dreamed of being inside a long time. One day, some spectacular-looking people stop at the house’s gates. They call themselves The Servants, and announce that The Masters will arrive on Tuesday. Has Neo really never heard of the venerable family of Amarant? Father Aster, big brother Popple, little Hasel, and twins Mistle and Tistle, who have a pet crocodile? Soon it becomes clear to Neo that some families are more special than others.

The first book in a trilogy about the Amarants is a story about friendship over all boundaries – about jealousy, longing, acceptance, and elation.

Elin Ruuth and Johanna Magoria have earlier created the picture book Tidernas djur. They share their love for subtle absurdities and dark humor, and work carefully with details in both text and image, atmospheres, and depth.
