A.I. – How Could Machines Replace Us?

Matthieu Dugal & Owen Davey

We always pursued the idea of being able to artificially create a machine with human qualities. Stronger, smarter, braver, this super human has fueled the imagination of science-fiction writers and filmmakers throughout history. And while we’re still a long way from a world populated by the robots from our favorite movies, the technology that could power them already exist. It’s called Artificial Intelligence, “A.I.”. We don’t see it and yet the technology is everywhere: in our phones, computers, cars, at the doctor’s, and it’s already making decisions for us, for better and sometimes for worse…

Matthieu Dugal has been a journalist and columnist for more than 20 years. Since 2018, he has hosted the daily techno-scientific program Moteur de recherche. He is the host and one of the writers of a documentary series on the ethics of artificial intelligence that will be broadcast on Ici Radio-Canada Télé in 2022.

Owen Davey is an award-winning illustrator from the UK. Since 2009 he has worked with many commercial clients such as Google, WWF, Facebook, Sony, Lego and National Geographic. Owen Davey’s picture books have been published in over 25 languages and been awarded many prizes, most recently his Curious About Crocodiles was Best in Show in the 3×3 Professional Show 2022.
