Papibri

Phara Thibaut & Kate Voronina

One day, a strange creature appears in the city center. Its name is Papibri. With the head of a hummingbird and a flight as slow as a butterfly’s, it transforms the lives of the city dwellers. Suddenly, time seems to slow down, and everyone pauses to admire the little things. Its delicate scent revives the fondest memories, and life becomes gentler.

Yet, high up in their tower, the world’s leaders are afraid and decide to capture the creature. A resistance movement forms to demand its release. It will take all the strength of the children to change hearts and bring back that gentleness…

Kate Voronina was educated at the Moscow Academy of Art and the British Higher School of Design (BHSAD). She moved to Tel Aviv in 2016 where she worked at the animation studio Poink as a background artist. “Camilla”, the cartoon she worked on, was shortlisted for the Cannes Film Festival 2018. That same year she moved to Berlin, where she started a career as a mural artist. Among her clients are The Washington Post, The Culture Trip, Amnesty International, Writer’s Block Murals, Rebel Girls, and the Beit Hatfutsot Museum in Tel Aviv. Her illustrations have been selected for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrator Exhibition in 2020. In 2022 she was shortlisted for the AOI World Illustrations Awards and she received a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 2023. She currently lives in Paris.

Her Où allons-nous? (Where Do We Go?) was selected for the dPictus 100 Outstanding Picture Books of 2025.
