It’s Not Bad Being Kind
Stefan Einhorn & Liv Svirsky
It has been 20 years since Stefan Einhorn wrote his book The Art of Being Kind, and the need for kindness in the world has certainly not diminished. Compassion, goodness, and people being kind to one another feel more important than ever in a time of war, pandemics, and environmental destruction.
In a joint project, child psychologist Liv Svirsky and Stefan Einhorn have now written a new book about kindness. It is aimed particularly at children between about 9 and 12 years old, with the purpose of providing motivation, knowledge, and inspiration to young people in troubled times.
The text includes facts, examples, and dilemmas that show how we can treat one another in good ways and that there are in fact real benefits to being kind. Many scientific studies also show that we ourselves benefit from kindness! This is probably because caring, empathy, and compassion have been survival advantages throughout evolution. And they are just as necessary today.
