Embarked as a clandestine in the backpack of his young friend, Oskar begins his career as a sailor cat. After the sinking of the Bismark, he changes his flag and name, now he is Oscar, and sails on a British destroyer. When it is also hit, he shipwrecks for the second time, but the sailors save him. He lands in Gibraltar, a brief time on the mainland, where he is renamed the unsinkable Sam.
When the Ark Royal calls for a cat on board to support the others in defeating the rat gang, Sam jumps on the alert. But his third shipwreck is soon to come. He survived once again, and was rewarded with an honorable retirement life in a home for veteran sailors: a role that suited him perfectly.

Maurizio A.C. Quarello is a giant of illustration, capable of making each book different in style from the previous one. His books are translated all over the world and he has won countless awards. Today his time is divided between the drawing board and the professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin.
