My Bedroom

Rute Nieto Ferreira & Jenny Bowers

A bedroom isn’t just a place to sleep. It can be a comfy den or a trampoline, a place for quiet reading and wild adventures. Watch a room change through night and day and become many things to its inhabitants. This is a dynamic and colourful ode to a child’s creative safe space. A book ideal for children aged two to six years.

My Bedroom was written by Rute Nieto Ferreira, an architect and urban designer with a passion for beautiful illustrated children’s books, which she has been collecting for many years (way before her children were in the picture). Alongside her lecturing and architectural practice she has developed and run kids architecture workshops with the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Illustrator Jenny Bowers is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and works both independently and collaboratively across illustration, animation and installation work. Clients come to her for her lightness of approach, sense of colour and visual immediacy. Her illustrations can be found every month in Vogue Japan, and she has illustrated stationery for Chronicle Books, packaging for Waitrose, Clinique, Bloomingdales and The Royal Mail.

"A sweet, lighthearted book about the joys of a bedroom, and turning it into your own world. A lovely story that is easily relatable for little and larger kids alike. (...) The illustrations are equally sweet, colourful and child-like, and my small one likes to point out the objects that are in her room too." Small Reads
