Monster Bestiary

Bo Eriksson, Lina Blixt

From east to west, north to south, there are testimonies about horrible monsters. Seamonsters that devour sailors, monsters that are half-gods, and aliens that change shape to trick their victims.

In an extensive, beautifulnon-fi ction book, over fifty monsters in nine habitats are presented, from the underground, through the woods and the jungle, to the mountains and cities. The reader will find out what dangers lure here and how one can – or can’t – protect oneself. It’s almost a miracle that you’ve survived for this long without being eaten by a monster!

Bo Eriksson is a history professor at Stockholm University and works as an editor for a historic magazine. He has written a number of acclaimed non-fiction books, and received a prestigious prize in the history field in 2009 for “establishing himself as an accomplished popular historian of top grade”.

Lina Blixt is an illustrator who has worked a lot with videogames. With the help of Bo’s descriptions, she has illustrated the monsters and their environments in this ambitious work.

"On the whole, a book for all ages.... Through artful images by the illustrator Lina Blixt and authentic text by the historian Bo Eriksson, the curious reader can learn much about everything from classic monsters like the Devil himself to trolls, mummies, zombies, vampires, and the Abominable Snowman.... 'Monster Bestiary' has a wide breadth, contains plenty of folk history, and offers fun connections to classic horror stories and films." – Norra Skåne
